This study aims to compare the Thai translated versions of the classic children's literature, J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, by Romchart Kraivong (2015) and Satita Songwittaya (2020). The objective is to examine the similarities and differences in translation strategies employed by these two translators when dealing with translation problems. Literary หยาด นอกก translation plays a crucial role in making popular texts accessible to a wide range of audiences, particularly young readers who may not have a strong command of the English language. However, literary translation is a challenging task as translators encounter various issues, such as differences in grammatical structures, connotations of words or idioms, and cultural beliefs or practices. These challenges can hinder precise translation of messages and conveying subtle connotations and tones to the target readers, thereby impacting their comprehension and appreciation of the texts. Translating fiction for young audiences is even more complex as it requires considering children's limited linguistic and cultural background. Thus, translators must exercise caution when dealing with items that possess complex connotations to avoid confusion among young readers. By examining different translation strategies used in recent Thai translations of Peter Pan, this study aims to offer insights on how to effectively address translation problems to ensure better understanding among young audiences.
